Pipe Volume & Fill Time Calculator

Find the internal volume of a pipe run and how long it takes to fill at a given flow rate.

How it works

Volume = pi x r^2 x length; 1 ft3 = 7.48052 gal. Fill time = volume / flow rate.

Worked example

A 2 in pipe, 100 ft long at 10 GPM holds about 16.3 gal and fills in about 1.63 min.

When to use it

  • Use the inside diameter, not the nominal or outside size.
  • Fill time assumes a constant flow rate.
